A virtual try-on app that works offline
Kurinuki Try-On Camera does all of its photo editing and compositing on your device. Even in a shop with weak reception, or in airplane mode, you can cut out clothes, try a garment on and take the shot. Here is what needs a connection and what doesn't. It's an Android app.
What works with no connection
- Erasing the clothing from your own photo ("Tap to erase", "Trace to erase" and "Restore")
- Holding your phone up to a garment, lining it up and taking the shot
- Picking a saved cutout again and carrying on with "Continue where you left off"
- "Auto-select the clothes", within its free allowance of three uses per hour
The AI model is built into the app, so as long as you still have free uses left, selection runs without any connection.
Where a connection comes in
- If you use "Auto-select the clothes" more than three times in an hour, the app asks whether you'd like to watch a video ad. Showing an ad needs a connection, so with none, that extra use isn't available. The free allowance comes back after a while.
- The banner ad on the home screen appears when you're online.
"Tap to erase" and "Trace to erase" never involve ads and work with no connection.
Your photos never leave your device
The only network use is for showing ads. The photos you take or pick, and the images you edit, are never sent to a server, and no outside analytics or crash-reporting service is used. There is no account or sign-in. See Privacy & safety for the details.
Using it in a basement floor or a mall
When reception is unreliable, the try-on itself doesn't stop as long as you've prepared. The easiest routine is to cut out your photo at home and tap "Apply", then in the shop start from the saved cutout with "Continue where you left off". Do the careful cutting somewhere calm, and in the shop just hold the phone up and shoot.
For the steps from cutout to shot, see the how-to guide.
Supported devices and price
It's built for Android; there is no iPhone / iPad version. It's free to start and supported by ads. More answers are in the FAQ.
